An Operating System is the low-level software which manages a PC. It takes care of the way the hardware operates, the communication with peripheral devices including a monitor, a printer or a keyboard, the allocation of memory between various applications, plus the prioritization of applications in case several run concurrently. Any program which is installed on a desktop or a laptop operates by sending requests to the OS for various services using an application program interface (API). The contact with the OS can be done through a Graphical User Interface (GUI) or a command line. In the Internet hosting world, the Operating System is what controls a hosting server as well as all of the software installed on it, which includes not only website scripts, but also any other application such as a VOIP or a game server. When there're virtual machines created, they work with a guest OS which runs on the server host OS.

Multiple OS in VPS

We offer three different Linux releases for the Operating System of our virtual private servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are some of the most stable and reliable OSs you can find and we provide all three of them rather than only 1 because we realize that you may want to install some software with specific requirements with regards to the Operating System it will run on. The latter is because each of the three Operating Systems has a huge support community behind it and there are various software applications you can install on the hosting server. Your OS choice will also determine what hosting Control Panel can be installed on the VPS if you would like to use one and for that reason we offer several Control Panels as well. Should you decide that you want another OS, our tech support team can quickly wipe the present one and install the one that you'd like. We also offer an optional service to have the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Hosting

In case you decide to buy one of our dedicated servers, you shall find three Operating Systems on the registration page because we want to give you a wider choice for the system environment on your machine as different applications can have particular requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian contain different modules developed by their large support communities, so you can select each of these OSs and benefit from a stable and safe hosting service. Depending on your selection, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Of course, we can always change the Operating System in case the one you have selected initially does not meet the requirements of the software that you intend to run. We can also update your OS on a regular basis in order to keep it as risk-free as possible using our Managed Services upgrade package.
